North Shore Filming Locations:
This movie was filmed entirely on the north shore of the island of Oahu, in Hawaii. [Thanks to Cory G. Smith]
The beginning of the movie where the Arizona Surfing Contest was held was at Big Surf Water Park in Tempe, Arizona [Thanks to Lisa Leon] UPDATE: Tyler Nealeigh kindly updated: The opening surf contest scene was not filmed in Arizona. It was filmed at Oasis Water Park in Palm Springs CA. It's not open anymore. It even says so in the credits. I've been to Oasis many times as a kid and I know that wave tank very well.
