Wow, we are talking about a major facelift here! This sequel was actually a very good action movie.
"After returning home from South Korea to great acclaim, three members of the U.S. National Karate Team (Tommy Lee, Alex Grady, and Travis Brickley) set up their own martial arts studio in Las Vegas. When Travis turns up dead after taking part in a brutal underground fighting competition, it is up to the two remaining team members to investigate the murder and exact revenge upon those responsible, including the ringleader Brakus." (Wikipedia)
The screenplay is much better with lots of nice and interesting little details. Eric Roberts, Phillip Rhee, Chris Penn, Edan Gross and Simon Rhee are back and we get to see many interesting new characters played by Ralf Moeller, Meg Foster, great and sleazy host Wayne Newton and Sonny Landham as James.
The violence and fight scenes are brutal and i loved the ruthless villains, great stuff! The score composed by David Michael Frank is excellent and once again i love the end credits tune performed by legendary Mark (Marcie) Free.
We also get to see nice training montages, Edan playing Tetris and native american sweat lodge. Recommended!

Gotta say that the original is one of my guilty pleaseures but I wasn't taken by this sequel at all. Killing off the best character from the original spoiled it for me and I just didn't like the story at all. Pointless sequel to a story that didn't need it IMHO.

Funny how it goes but it´s good that we have different opinions.
Oh, i forgot to say that it was great to see John P. Ryan (Avenging Force, Delta Force 2 etc.) in the first movie. Too bad that he didn´t have a bigger role.

Vicious group of neo-Nazis have been terrorizing the populace in the small town of Liberty. Tommy Lee (Phillip Rhee) comes to visit his sister and her family and teaches the bad guys some manners.
Watched Best of the Best 3: No Turning Back (1995) and while it was nowhere near as good as part 2, it´s still a decent actioner. Lots of gunfighting, martial arts and explosions. The story tends to get a bit preachy at times (human rights and equality) but we don´t see one kiss between Rhee and Gershon and they´re suppose to have a relationship! Rhee looks cool and Christopher McDonald, Gina Gershon, Dee Wallace, Mark Rolston and R. Lee Ermey co-star.

the first two best of the best movies were both really good but i do tend to grab the 2nd part of my shelf more often than i do the first.
i can't remember much from either parts 3 or 4 but i know they weren't quite up to the same standards as the previous two entries.
looking at part 3 it still looks like it's actually got a pretty good cast with gina gershon,r lee ermey etc.
