Watched Rich Girl last night. It was a decent story about a rich girl who wants to survive on her own and takes a job as a waitress in a rock club. She falls in love with a singer of the house band Breakout and her dad and ex-boyfriend don´t like the idea.
The story is so-so but i love Jill Schoelen and Don Michael Paul (Winners Take All, Aloha Summer etc.) is a cool dude. He also wrote the classic film Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man.
Most of the songs were written by Jack Ponti, Vic Pepe, Lance Bulen and Kelly Keeling so it´s basically Baton Rouge material we are talking about here. Hard rock legend Jeff Scott Soto did all the lead vocals for Don Michael Paul. He was credited as "Jay Essess" in the end credits.
I enjoy "Rich Girl" for many of the reasons that ATomiK mentioned, though I didn't know all those cool tidbits about the soundtrack. Lots of Jill Schoelen fans on the Rewind it seems with my favorite film with her being "Popcorn" and it is fun to see Don Michael Paul as the bad boy rocker. ha
Wow.. that trailer is unfortunately way better than the actual movie.. but everyone should at least watch the open sequence aTomiK linked above if only for that amazing tune!
Similar to "Then He Kissed Me" from "Adventures In Babysitting".. there were times in the past that I popped in my laserdisc of "Rich Girl" just to listen to "Not Just Another Girl" by Ivan Neville.
And if you are a Cherie Currie fan.. consider this movie a total must! Her acting roles are limited, so seek this puppy out!

I've always known about this movie..wanted to see it..I like Jill Schoelen.
But even with Atomik's great little write up....."it was a decent story" and "that trailer is unfortunately way better than the actual movie" make me want to run far away from this movie haha........We all like bad movies....but how bad is too bad?

It´s a very simple movie, Muffy. Not a bad movie but it misses something. Schoelen´s character didn´t have any true friends from the pre-waitress life so maybe that´s it. But the soundtrack is fantastic. I say check it out if you have a chance.

Even for as much of a J. Schoelen fanatic I am, sadly..this movie is pretty forgettable to me and NOT among her best. I didn't care for it.
