I have a yearly tradition that on the first stormy night of the summer I watch the movie Twister. So far the weather here in North Dakota has been rather cool and boring, but tonight they say we have the potential for some stormy weather. If we do get a storm I will watch the movie once again, but only after the storm is all done and over with as I'm a storm buff and would have to be outside watching the storm roll in.

Twister was one awesome movie to see in the theater but loses alot of its luster on the small screen. Might be lacking in a strong story line but is a good action movie in the same vein as 70's films Towering Inferno, Poseidon Adventure and Earthquake.

Wish me luck on that storm everybody.

"It's a twister...it's a twister!"

We had one here in NYS on May 31st, 1998 and it was likely the first I had ever experienced. It was a weird afternoon of impending storms and I was driving thru one on the way to get my kids around 5. A tree fell in the road nearby and the radio said a big storm was passing thru where I was heading to get them. I drove like crazy to the nearest phone and called their dad's and set "get out!" because he lived in a trailer!

They met me at the market, by which time the storm had passed but now we were out of power. So we drove up to our house and he said good-bye...only to come screeching into the driveway that the radio was now saying a twister was coming by...it got so dark & scary but I was afraid to go outside...then we all ran into the crawl space of the heater [no cellar at this house] and listened to it howl & pitch above us. Omigod...my kids still talk about it to this day!

YES, THIS MOVIE ROCKS!

I passed by it in the rental store today.
I'll pick it up next time.

The Van Halen song on the soundtrack's also very cool.

Incidentally, my late Great Grandma Ross was quite scared of tornados and had a homemade dirt cellar in the yard.

- OKIE boy.
