Now we're talking. Those of you closest to my age can probably attest to the great thrill it was at the time to know another picture was coming and waiting to see how it could top the one before. It was quite honestly what the movies are supposed to be all about. This'll probably be the toughest category, given that the choices for the decade's best are:

-The Rescuers Down Under,
-Beauty and the Beast,
-Aladdin,
-The Lion King,
-Pocahontas,
-The Hunchback of Notre Dame,
-Hercules,
-Mulan, and
-Tarzan

(note that Duck Tales the Movie was done by the TV crew and thus not officially considered a canonical picture)

My choice here is close, but would have to be TLK. Considering that they initally thought of it as the B-picture to Pocahontas, it's all the more amazing that it became perhaps the finest modern animated film yet made. Absolutely everything works perfectly, from the outstanding animation to Elton's mighty songs to a script that hits every note perfectly and runs the complete gamut of emotions (admit it, you broke down at the infamous moment and didn't let up for a good 5 minutes afterwards). It's rare to see films where every single character is entertaining and memorable, but this is one of them. Just pretend the sequels never happened (that usually how I rationalize bad sequels to any film anyway); this is how film is meant to be done, be it animation or live action.

Beauty And The Beast - the only animated movie ever to get a Best Picture oscar nomination.

I don't mean to be a spoilsport, but the concept pretty much ripped off the Japanese animated TV series, "Kimba, The White Lion"! [Mad]

So I've heard. As it is, the station I work at airs Kimba (the 90s remake at least) Saturday mornings, and looking it over there are a couple noteworthy similarities (the babboon for example is very much Rafikiish apart from the twisted mysticisms), although not quite enough for me to be completely convinced in the argument.

supposedly - yes. I personally believe they do, but other argue it. I think www.snopes.com has an article about it and "proof".

RESCUERS - when Bernard and Bianca are flying on an abatross they pass a window with a nude woman in it.

LITTLE MERMAID - Priest who marries Ariel and Eric has a "boner"

LITTLE MERMAID - original cover art (which my BFF has) has a golden penis hidden in the castle art.

LION KING - when one of the lions (grown up Simba, i think) falls down exhausted a bunch of dust flys up spelling the word S E X

CHICKEN LITTLE - when you watch it with subtitles there is a volley ball scene that translates to someone (the pig I think) screaming "The F Word".

**** This one I will dispute - ALADDIN - in a scene where ALADDIN climbs up onto Jasmines balcony he says something to her pet tiger. Some people say he says something about "teenagers getting naked". I had this video and watched it again and again and I clear as a bell hear Aladdin saying something along the lines of "Shhh...Tiger, Get Away!" or soemthing similar, shooing the tiger away.

Anyone remember any other ones?

Oh, and by the way, my favorite 90s one was THE LITTLE MERMAID.

In fact, listen quite carefully when Abu realizes he's stranded on the rocks once the Cave of Wonders starts self-destructing (specifically at the moment the camera pans quickly to the right to show the stepping stones in front of him exploding). You'd be surprised at what you think you hear, although whether it actually is that or not is anyone's guess. Pretty much all the other theories here have been debunked in one way or another (it's the priest's knee bent a little too far, it's hard to tell exactly what the line Aladdin mumbles at that point is), and truthfully I don't think they'd do so on purpose if they were true; they'd know the inherent risk that would be given their target audience and the backlash that would ensue.

thnx for the website mamamiasweetpeaches. I typed in "hidden messages in disney movies" and it showed an article and the part of the movie where it supposedly says "sex" in the stars. After replaying the clip about two times i could clearly see it spelled out.

personally i think that is a lie because like mammamia wrote, in the rescuers there is a naked woman. But it is so clear in this movie that the woman wasnt a "mistake"

IF THE LITTLE MAERMAID is 80 (not sure) than I will have to say my favorite '90s one was BEAUTY AND THE BEAST.

Did anyone see the play? It was sooooooo good!
