Who remembers this anti-drug special, argumably the penultimate Saturday morning moment? I remember the heavy buildup toward it; everyone seemed to know it was special, especially when all 3 networks ran it simultaneously without commercial break and even added an intro by Bush Senior at the beginning. The Smurfs, Alf, Garfield, the Chipmunks (Simon can identify marijuana as the drug in question for this special by simple sight; is there something David Seville doesn't know about going on when he's not looking?), Michaelangelo (but why not the other Turtles, I always wondered), Slimer, the Muppet Babies, Bugs & Daffy, and Pooh were just a few of the animation heavyweights who spent the half hour telling and showing how drugs can hurt us all. At age 8 at the time, I thought it was all real, that they'd all actually signed up for a greater cause. I'd like to see some formal home release sometiems down the road (I've heard rumors Jim Davis might be the main holdup since apparently they used Garfield in the special without his permission. Or maybe he's upset that Alf threatened to have his cat for dinner--literally, of course--if he didn't help spread the anti-drug message).

Does anyone else remember seeing it?

OMG, I saw that ALL THE TIME when I was a kid in elementary school! LOVE it to bits! [Big Grin]

You know, I wish they'd put that film on DVD... [Frown]

Yes, I remember it. It's proof that the road to Hell is paved with good intentions. "Just Say No", D.A.R.E...It's all a joke. I think that kids are smarter than adults give them credit for when it comes to drugs.

I did like the song "Ways To Say No", which was one of the few non-Disney songs written by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken.
