This was a new one on me: the lesbian film noir (never quite made it as a genre unto itself, though I suppose ‘Monkey’s Mask’ with Kelly McGillis would qualify). The Wachowski brothers (who, besides having penned forgettable Stallone/Banderas action movie ‘Assassins’, were practically unknown) turned out this stylish but patchy noir with some good dialogue (though a few innuendos seem better suited to the ‘Carry On..’ franchise), a couple of very tense scenes (e.g. blood on the rug, champagne bottle etc) and the unlikely paring of Jennifer Tilly and Gina Ghershon. ‘Bound’ is a good, but not great, movie and gives almost no hint of the fact that the brothers would go onto helm modern calssic ‘The Matrix’ a mere three years later (though look out for the use of bullet-time near the end). 'Bound' is best seen a comic book noir, and you'll be hard pressed not to smirk when they use Tom Jones’s ‘She’s A Lady’ on the soundtrack.

Very good movie! Not for the kiddies, though!
As for Kash's comment:

Well, there's a bit of kinky stuff in "Bound", but both films have that dark neo-noir look. The fact that one of the brothers left his wife for a professional dominatrix after the film came out, gives it an added dimension.
