If they do in fact use Venom, this does makes sense to have the black suit.
It would be great to see the Sandman in action. For some bizarre reason he was the only major rogue not to appear in the fabulous 90s animated series.
They're also adding Gwen Stacy as an additional love interest, I've heard. Since they already used the infamous George Washington Bridge setting in the first picture, it's intriguing to see how they play her out, especially since recent adaptations have grafted much of her onto Mary Jane Watson. We'll also meet her father, who in the comics was one of the people who apparently realized Peter Parker and Spider-Man were one and the same; indeed, as he lay dying in his final appearing he called the attending webcrawler Peter. Don't be surprised if they recreate this in a way (although the heavy in that story was Dr. Octopus).

I am angry with Sam Raimi! Like Chris said, he grafted Gwen into Mary Jane, problem being that Gwen was supposed to have died! I don not like Kirsten Dunst as MJ, she is not the sexy looker MJ was in the comics. Bryce DAllas Howard(Gwen) would have been a better MJ, with her natural red locks but she is Gwen.
Anyway, I also heard that Topher Grace will not be playing venom but Electro instead. Supposedly Spidey will don the suit for most of the film until the end when we get a look at Eddie Brock through the reflection of Spidey's eyes. This would be the set of for the 4th, although this is all just rumor.
I'm curious as to how they will get Spidey the black suit, I mean are they going to follow the comic and go into space? If thats the case then we will also see J. Jonah Jameson son in this one again. And what about Peter's professor with the one arm, he is supposed to become the Lizard? And Harry is suppossed to become the Hobgoblin?
Doesn't it seem like a bit too much going on for the third installment? Or are more things gonna get cut out so that they can move on to the more recent comic storylines???

Well, if Venom does show up, you can probably bet we'll see Carnage in a 4th film. That would probably also be the ideal time to introduce the Lizard, I feel.
One of the best Spidey sites on the web I know of that covers the character better than any other is <www.spiderfan.org>. It updates every 2 months on average due to the multiple titles released every month. One of my favorite features is the "From the Beginning" Series, which details every Spider-Man comic in chronological order (currently they're up to issue #40 in 1966, in which Norman Osborn revealed himself as the Green Goblin, a decision Al the reviewer, who grew up on the comics, dislikes to this day given the fact that Norman was only formally introduced 3 issues earlier). The commentary can get hilarious where detailing the various continuity errors and lapses in logic Stan Lee and his artists commit every now and then. Some of my favorites include:
-in the second story of issue #1, Spider-Man attempts to join the Fantastic 4. Once he's inside the Baxter Building, they drop a large glass container over him that he's able to smash his way out of. "Careful!" yells Mr. Fantastic, "That cost us untold thousands of dollars!" To which Al comments, "If you're that concerned about how much it costs, Reid, why'd you bother deploying it in the first place?"
-in issue #4, the Sandman has the Webslinger backed up against the wall of the Midtown High gym, suffocating him. With the last of his strength, Spidey lifts the foe over his head--and smashes him against the railing of a staircase that has magically appeared behind them. And the rock hard Sandman manages to shatter into a thousand particles.
-in issue #6, we hear the Lizard telling his alligator "henchcreatures" about his big master plan to dump his formula into the swamp and create an invincible reptile army. Al points out the big flaw with the plan: since the concotion made an ordinary human a reptile, wouldn't soaking other reptiles with it simply make them more reptilian?
-in issue #15, Kraven's arrival in New York is supposedly the big story of the year...yet Peter and Jamison are apparently the only people who show up, and Kraven seems to be the only one on the boat
-in issue #23, after wrapping up the mob (including two attackers apparently both named Mike) Spider-Man follows after the then still unknown Green Goblin and jumps on his back while he's in midair. While it would make more sense to simply stay on him and let gravity bring down his glider, he instead jumps off and lets the Goblin go into a building room--one that's apparently five stories tall and contains nothing but pipes. This, we're told, is Stan's way of saying he needs to right a certain page long fight scene that ends with the Goblin escaping
And too many times to count, our hero gives away openly the fact he has a Spider sense to the thugs he's fighting, making it all the more believable that foes would eventually come up with ways to try and deaden it. And like just about every other villain in the 60s, his enemies feel the need to monologue at times when they have the chance to just kill him. Enjoyable reading.

And Macendale of course was Jack O'Lantern before becoming the Hobgoblin and subsequently being fried by Kingsley. And now the Scorpion's the new Venom. As Dorothy said so succinctly, people come and go so quickly around here.
