So I was shopping at the mall to get early Christmas gifts and I had about half of my paycheck to still spend, so I was looking through stores for nifty things to buy. I decided to go into Game Stop, but since I don't play videogames, I went straight to the used DVDs.
Here's the thing about Game Stop: Their used DVDs is a very small collection, and either consist of movies I've seen and would not like to see again, I own, or I don't care enough about to actually buy. Or have crappy covers that just scream "bootleg." I've never bought anything from them, but I always look in there when I have money to burn. This was really a ritualistic searching through the DVDs rather than a serious buying opportunity. I commented to my friend, "You ever noticed how I never find anything in here?" "Yeah," she laughed. And then I found a movie and bought it. Guess which one?
I saw Eight-Legged Freaks once when it was released, and forgot about it, and I saw it a million times in Game Stop in those random searchings. I just figured since it was $5.99 and stars the awesome David Arquette I'd give it another shot. I remembered liking it, but only remembered one or two scenes.
I watched it again and it was really funny, and really good. The whole thing was totally ridiculous ("THEY'RE HERE!!!" "What was that?" "Spider, man."), but that's what made it so funny. I really liked it, and I'm glad I bought it. What did you guys think?

Never seen this movie, but the idea of giant mutant spiders and 50's B-style humour appeals to me (Tim Burton should've made this), and if its half as fun as 'Arachnophobia' was, I may have to check it out. David Arquette annoys me for some reason, I liked him in 'Scream' and '3000 Miles To Graceland' but I just don't find him funny and think he's a bit of an overactor.

Well, he does overact in this one too ("IT'S AN INVASION!! They're here! THEY'RE HERE!!"), but it's fun.

I loved this movie Lupa. I thought it was funny. Just before the movie came out I was at a convention and met the director and cast of the film. They gave out posters and had an autograph session and showed us about 20 minutes of the film. I liked the short film that the movie was based on too. Cool stuff.

I love this film! It's a real tribute to the B movies of the 50's.

Yeah, apparently they changed it because they were worried that certain people might mistake it for a movie about Saddam Hussein...
