Oh my gosh. I loved that movie. I always wanted to shoot up the dishes and say that! I loved the song they played, when she had a fight with her boyfriend, "A Perfect World" by Alias.

Yeah it was a pretty funny one, but wouldn't the babysitter eventually have started to smell in the trunk that they put her in, or am I forgetting what they actually did with her. Was she so mean that nobody missed her??

David Duchovny sure was a big nerd in this one.

I think what happened was that the parents went away for a long time (a think a whole summer?) and the babysitter was old and died of a heart attack. The kids decide not to tell the parents that the babysitter died (and I think the body was taken to the morgue) and to take care of themselves over the summer.

All I know about this movie is that one of the kids from the movie was barely a teen when he died of an overdose...It was either crack, cocaine or heroin.

Sincerely,

John Kilduff

The mom went away to Australia with her boyfriend for the summer and the babysitter had a heart attack when she went into Kenny's (Keith Coogan) room. Then they put the babbysitter in a trunk and dropped her off at the morgue with a note that said "Nice old lady died of natural causes" and left her there with all the money that there mom had left them for the summer. Speaking of Keith Coogan what ever happened to him he was in this movie and Adventures in Babbysitting and then just disappeared...what a shame.

John his name was Christopher Pettiet, he died of a drug overdose April of 2000. I remember him best from the movie "Point Break". He was the kid in the surf shop that said:

"Surfing's the source man... swear to God."

Oops. I had read that he was into various drugs even at the time of "Babysitter's". Thanks for the clarification, Valley.

Sincerely,

John Kilduff

Yep, another longtime favorite here, too. Perfect "summer" or "Friday night" movie - there's definitely a John Hughes feel and style of writing about it (i.e. everyone gets into a pretty unlikely scenario and scramble to figure out what to do about it, but it feels realistic in its own way).

The old lady babysitter was such a witch, so even if what they did probably wasn't the best way to handle it, I can't say I "missed" her character! Sue Ellen sure was creative and intelligent - hey, you do what you have to in times like that, LOL.

It's funny how our perception changes from certain things over time. Today I find Kenny to be the typical party/cool teenage guy (not that I'm that way or ever have been, but I'd probably chill with him - I know many guys like that in real life, btw). However, around the time it came out, I kinda thought of him as this scary big dude. Not mean or anything, but just the kind of guy I wouldn't want babysitting me, ya know? Although I was looking at it as a 9-year old boy at the time, when he was, like 16 or 17.

I love this movie too.
I like the "Kenny" character the best.

I was positive that "Kenny" was played by Frank Whaley who played "Robby Krieger" in the doors but on www.imbd.com it says he was played by Keith Coogan.

It's definitely Keith Coogan from "Adventures In Babysiiting" and "Hiding Out" fame. Check him out at the end of the movie when he cleans up and you'll recognize him better.

I didn't know that about the kid and the overdose. I did like it a lot. Funny flick that effectively shows that kids can turn around and act like adults.
