Have any of you seen this movie? I bought it tonight on DVD for 5 bucks. You know me and my budget flicks . The cast seems good so maybe it won't suck. We'll see.

Not a bad attempt at contemporary film noir (though still a fair bit behind the likes of ‘Red Rock West’) Dennis Hopper’s on directing duties, good cast, decent story; its almost like an updated version of ‘Double Indemnity’, if you like film noir Cindy, I doubt you’ll be disappointed.

Connelly plays a very innocent type girl, kind of like her character in Seven Minutes in Heaven. It is a pretty good flick, Ms. Madsen is her evil good self in this one, kind of like her character in Long Gone, Miss Dixie Lee Box. Not to fond of anything that Don Johnson is in but overall not a bad ride. I would recommend it to anyone that wants to see a small town flick about a sleazy guy getting it on with a couple of women!

I watched The Hot Spot tonight. It was alright. I found it mildly amusing. I was getting anxious in the begining because it seemed like you couldn't get to the plot. '
As for it being an erotic, torid tale, like the box says, I don't know. I thought if some of the scenes were a little steamier, it would have made the picture better. Virgina looked beautiful and played her role well. Jennifer Connelly was good too. In my opinion, she's pretty consistent in her abilities as an actress. Don Johnson was cool. I'll give him that. Overall, not bad. I would never watch it again but at least now I know the deal.

I remember my mom rented this back in the day. On the display box was one of those makeshift warning labels made from masking tape that said "Adults Only" on it. When one of my friends in school had a sleepover, he pilfered a copy of it and watched it and wondered how exactly Don Johnson somehow got such high shelf. Especially after making that dreadful 'Heartbeat' song.

Feels alot like an 90s movie with an 80s hangover but actually in the beginning I couldn't tell if it was a period piece until "The Stroke" starting playing in the strip club lol
It feels very "film noir" and because of Connolly and Madsen i'm getting sucked in.......i'll let you know when I finish it......it's free on ondemand.

Watched about a half hour of this since it was on demand for free...I seen it before, so I could not bring myself to watching the whole thing again. It's ok, pretty good erotic scenes in some parts..but overall, could not keep me entertained enough to finish it.

A friend of mine who owned a video store back in the day once said that the store VHS copy of "The Hot Spot" had a lot of video tracking problems and noise at minute 48 or whatever, apparently from being paused for long periods of time by a lot of different renters. I wonder why.

I'm not saying that I ever even inadvertantly paused that tape at the spot with the tracking problems and noise. Just reporting what I heard...

Definitely a great 'neo noir' movie. Dennis Hopper is actually a very good director (try to check out 'Out of The Blue') and, since his role as Sonny 'Burnett' Crockett, Don Johnson has been in my cool book. That being said, I have to admit that this movie's most important asset is the incredible Jennifer Connelly... She was extremely hot in this one and showed a lot of skin too .
