I have been wanting to write about them for a long time, and always forget, then I just saw Ronnie posted the words to one of their songs and I had to write about them.
They were one of my favorite groups of the 90's.
I loved "Trouble" "Fly" and "Cowboy, Take me Away"- woo hooo...they are good. I actually like a ton of their stuff, and they were such awesome musicians.
It really bothered me how they were at the top, and then Natalie said something about George Bush that made a batch of rednecks angry, and they boycotted them. Well, some of the stuff George Bush has done, makes me embarrassed for our country too, so she isn't alone in her thinking. She has the right to her opinion. It had nothing to do with her music. Talk about taking things to such extreme, when people ripped her apart like they did. Get over it.
I actually like a lot of country music in the 90's.
Lonestar was great, and Martina McBride, and I loved Jo Dee Messina's song "Burn".
Do you wanna be a poet and write Do you wanna be an actor up in lights Do you wanna be a soldier and fight for love Do you wanna travel the world Do you wanna be a diver for pearls Or climb a mountain and touch the clouds above
Be anyone you want to be Bring to life your fantasies But I want something in return I want you to burn Burn for me baby Like a candle in my night Oh burn Burn for my, burn for me
Are you gonna be a gambler and deal Are you gonna be a doctor and heal Or go to heaven and tough God’s face Are you gonna be a dreamer who sleeps Are you gonna be a sinner who weeps Or an angel under grace
I’ll lay down on your bed of coals Offer up my heart and soul But in return
I want you to burn Burn for me baby Like a candle in my night Oh burn Burn for my, burn for me
Laugh for me, cry for me Pray for me, fly for me Live for me, die for me
I want you to burn Burn for me baby Like a candle in my night Oh burn Burn for my, burn for me
I love that song!!

This is my favorite Dixie Chick song..I had to look it up:
Without You
I've sure enjoyed the rain but I'm looking forward to the sun You have to feel the pain when you lose the love you gave someone I thought by now the time would take away these lonely tears I hope you're doing fine all alone, but where do I go from here 'cause
Without you I'm not okay And without you I've lost my way My heart's stuck in second place ooh Without you
Well I never thought I'd be lying here without you by my side It seems unreal to me that the life you promised was a lie You made it look so easy making love into memories I guess you got what you wanted but what about me 'cause
Without you I'm not okay And without you I've lost my way My heart's stuck in second place ooh Without you
Somebody tell my head to try to tell my heart That I'm better off without you 'Cause baby I can't live
Without you I'm not okay And without you I've lost my way My heart's stuck in second place ooh Without you...Without you

You Were Mine I Can't Find A Reason To Let Go Even Though You've Found A New Love And She's What Your Dreams Are Made Of I Can Find A Reason To Hang On What Went Wrong Can Be Forgiven Without You, It Ain't Worth Livin' Alone
[Chorus:] Sometimes I Wake Up Crying At Night And Sometimes I Scream Out Your Name What Right Does She Have To Take You Away When For So Long, You Were Mine
I Took Out All The Pictures Of Our Wedding Day It Was A Time Of Love And Laughter Happy Ever After But Even Those Old Pictures Have Begun To Fade Please Tell Me She's Not Real And That You're Really Coming Home To Stay
[Repeat Chorus]
I Can Give You Two Good Reasons To Show You Love's Not Blind He's Two And She's Four, And You Know They Adore You So How Can I Tell Them You've Changed Your Mind

Ronnie what did you think of the remake of "Landslide"? I prefer the Steve Nicks version, but the Dixie Chicks did a decent job.

I take offense at that, because politically I'm conservative and I'm probably considered a redneck, and I'm a hardcore Bush supporter, so yes, the Dixie Chicks ticked me off.
Still, it's been more than two years since those remarks were made. Can we just get off each other's cases and move on?
Besides that, everybody knows that Faith Hill is where it's at when it comes to pop-country. I'm a tremendous fan of her singles.
Sincerely,
John Kilduff
EDIT: When I say we, I mean conservatives and liberals, not me and you, Isis.

Well, I think the point is...alot of people took offense to some of the things he said and has done, and they have every right to their opinion too.
Toby Keith started running his mouth about the Dixie Chicks, and created a total war over her one comment...which to me is ridiculous.
And yeah it has been over 2 years, but they haven't released any more music, even though they are all being moms now...so I hope that has more to do with it, then they just didn't feel like it after being slammed all over the place.

well, i am not in support of everything bush says or does, BUT i still couldn't disrespect the president by standing up on stage in front of thousands, while in another country and run my mouth about something that has nothing to do with those ppl they were performing for. i love their music, and natalie's voice but they deserved the backlash they got. now, i don't think toby keith made the situation any better, but everyone can certainly have their opinions. and when i go to a concert, i go to see the performance and hear the music, not to listen to their political views and make comments that other ppl in the audience may or may not even agree with. there is a time and a place.

The media picked up on the dixie Chicks comment did before Keith said anything about it. It was a disrespectful statement on the Chicks' part. They got what they deserved. Especially considering they call that crap these days country music. It may as well be hip hop...
