I have been wanting to watch it again, I have it somewhere and can't find it.
I saw it once at the movie theater and once at the drive-in, I kind of liked it.
I loved their house in it.
There is a scene in it, where Michelle Pfeiffer is standing on a ladies porch and I think you can see water in the background, and she is talking to her about her daughter who was missing. That was filmed in a town in Vermont where my Aunt use to live, she remembered when they were there filming it. Alot of it was filmed in parts of Vermont.
I am in the mood to watch something that is scary, so if I could find it, that might be what I watch soon.

Oh I loved this movie. I wasn't to psyched about seeing it but I ended up really liking it a lot. I love the references to Hitchc0ck's filmmakimg. When she is driving over the bridge and the camera movements that show him on the boat. I love the idea for the story too. It was a refreshing thriller. The movie was punned in several films like Scary Movie 2.
I think in about 30 years or so, this will be one that is remade.

I loved this film. JLP, you are totally right about it being a bit Hitchc0ckian, it was totally an "edge of the seat" movie. The fact that you couldn't be sure if Michelle Pfeiffer was really seeing what she was seeing, or if she was going crazy in that big empty house kept you guessing for a good portion of the film. It certainly showed that she was a bit "lost" once her daughter went to college - which is why she became obsessed with the neighbours coz it gave her something to concentrate on that she thought was important. The scene where she is drugged and in the bath with the water rising is, in my opinion, one of the most tense and suspenseful scenes in movie history. The shot of just her eyes above the water looking around in a panic is an absolute classic.

Definately an underrated movie. The Director did a very good job at putting you(the audience) IN the house. Thrillers/Horror movies that involve an ordinary "All American" family with the house, dog, white picket fence, children, tend to always be pretty intense because of the realistic factor involved. Movies are ALWAYS scarrier if they have the "OMG that could happen to me" effect. This movie is a classic example of that. Not the type of movie that's going to rack up Academy Awards, but is definately a good solid movie.

And refreshing to see Harrison 'the legend' Ford playing something of a baddie for a change. Good movie,pure lights off and snuggle up with pop-corn movie!or a girl if you got no pop-corn!

I watched it last night. It took me forever to find it...it was the last movie I came to- doesn't that always work that way.
I had forgotten so much of it. It is one I wanna get on DVD if it is out on DVD. Cause someone taped it for me off something, and the tape was about shot but I still kept watching it.
Harrison Ford's body was in fantastic shape. So, was Michelle Pfeiffer. It was cool that when she touched something from the dead woman that she became her-that was different. It reminded me of the 80's movie "Ghost Story" in some places. Especially when she is putting the moves all over Harrison Ford, and she says" I think she is on to us, and he says "who? and she says "your wife"- that is pretty freaky.
It was kind of cool how they never mentioned the whole car wreck-until well in to the movie...but you kind of knew something had happened to her.
I just am not sure why Harrison Ford turned in to such a nut, they never really gave an explaination for that. I mean an affair is no reason to totally lose it, he had a ton of money-it wasn't like he wanted to kill someone off for the insurance money.
One of the freakiest scenes in the movie to me, is when she is standing on the edge of the dock, and just does a nose dive in, and goes straight for the jewelry box. The scene in the bathtub...is freaky , especially when he looks at her and she turns in to the other woman- and he falls and cracks his head....it reminded me of a combo of Ghost Story and The Shining in that scene.

I liked the way this movie was put together. I love Michelle Pfieffer too. She is so beautiful. The only part that really let me down was the plot. I guessed it after about the first half hour (if that). Was it supposed to be that obvious? Still, not a bad film, the suspense was palpable in most parts
