Good choice, Noms! I loved this movie too. I thought it was pretty intense. The fights were just awesome. The scenery and cinematography were so beautiful.

You're so not alone...one of my favorite '90s. DDL is a personal fave to this day...I gotta thing for smoldering Brits. There's an idea for a thread!
The setting takes place all within my stomping grounds, though I know they filmed elsewhere. Saratoga...Fort William Henry...Albany...been all thru 'em.
The Fort was eventually rebuilt and still looks over Lake George to this day. Unfortunately, a hotel/conference center has been built around it, so some of the historical significance has been lost to commercialism. The surrounding Lake George [for King George of England] is full of shipwrecks from the French & Indian and Revolutionary Wars, otherwise known as "When We Kicked Yer Limey Butts...j/k.
There's your dose of local history for the day.
One of these days I'm going to apply myself and read the book.

Great film, haven't seen it in years though, thanks to Noms posting the cover as it means the long awaited director's cut is here at last.

I know what you mean Hipstermom, I got about as far as "It was a feature peculiar to the colonial wars of North America"...but then 'South Park' was on so I had to stop reading

Kash good to see you back, it has been awhile. Well I haven't actually seen all of this film. It is just one of those that doesn't appeal to me for some reason. I am not a big Daniel Day Lewis fan. Maybe that is why it doesn't seem to appeal to me. I do like Madeline Stowe and I believe she was in this one as well.

Ditt on the Kash kudoes...good to have you back, even on a limited capacity.
LOTM was on AGAIN last night, so I kept cutting to it during Oscar commercials and those boring songs.
