This movie was hated by critics and one called it the worst movie ever made, but it kept me watching. That's a lot more than I can say for a lot of movies. Naturally, there's a remake and It's probably not good. Has anyone seen this or its remake. There is also a sequel to the remake.

The original I Spit on Your Grave is one of those movies that people will argue about forever. Most see it as sick trash. I don't. If we measure a movie's effectiveness by whether it accomplishes what it sets out to do, then it's a success because it shocks and makes you think. The primitive filming--like the original Last House on the Left--actually helps. It has that raw, nasty atmosphere, and it is so appalling what is done to Camille Keaton that it incites the viewer, pacifist though he or she may be, into really wanting the bad guys to die horribly--and they do. Folks can say what they want, but the film does cause a reaction.
The remake is much, much slicker. It's actually a good-looking exploitation film. It too strives to rub the viewer's nose in squalor, but I don't think that it is as successful. The violation of the heroine is somewhat lessened from the original, with more attention spent on her revenge. It's not a bad film, but it just doesn't have the power of the original.
The less said about the sequel the better. The film is less I Spit on Your Grave and more like standard Hostel torture porn. Again, it's not terrible but pretty uneventful.

Yeah definitely check out Solange Atomik as it's a great watch, originally viewed it on Amazon Instant video (one of the very few I've watched on stream) and liked it that much that I not long after picked up the Arrow Blu Ray.
Certainely agree about the original I Spit/Last House movies coming across a lot more grimier than there remakes and like you mention Crash the slicker looking photography, bigger budgets, etc of the remakes definitely play a big part in this!
