According to one review, it was supposed to take place in 1995...(Hint: Durango-95.)

I'm finally going to watch this movie in just a little bit and if I'm not too tired afterwards I'm going to watch Dr. Strangelove.

How can we talk about Kubrick and not mention Full Metal Jacket?
Another awesomely good movie by Kubrick that I never tire of watching; especially the first part while they're still in basic training.

I heard that was sampled in a 2 Live Crew song.

I remember watching this movie when I was in college. It was very disturbing, but so different it enticed me to continue watching. It felt like when you see a car crash and even though you don't want to see anyone hurt, you have to gawk as you roll by it as if in slow motion. Surreal might be another way to explain this movie.

It was banned in the UK when it was first released much to Kubrick's dismay.

It wasn't. It was released and then spawned movie-inspired violence so Kubrick had it pulled from the theatres. It was his choice.

My old man saw it at the cinema when it first came out and used to rave about it. It wasn't til about the late 90's or early 2000's that it got released on video here in OZ.
Has anyone seen the Australian movie Romper Stomper? IMO Romper Stomper has ripped off a fair bit of stuff from this movie.
Oh welp, back to listening to Rossini's William Tell Overture. Ahhh.
