It was probably their least Roller-ish hit, sounding a bit like a Disco song rather than the bubblegum glam they were associated with. It was quite a big hit internationally, but in Britain they were fading fast by then and the song barely scraped the top 40. It's one of their best though.

It reached #10 stateside and I enjoyed it enough. I listened to a lot of Bay City Rollers back then when I wasn't listening to KISS or Cheap Trick. But this song and that album was definitely the beginning of the end for Rollermania here on the left side of the Big Pond.

Bye Bye Baby was the impetus behind Rollermania, it was a huge hit everywhere... except the USA. Maybe that's why they never got quite as big in the US as everywhere else.
I like the Four Seasons original too, even though it lacks the energy of the Rollers version.
