I'm pretty sure everything off their first album for sure was a remake

The basic premise of The Blues Brothers was to revive old R&B, soul, and blues songs from the 40's, 50's, and 60's.

If you have The Blues Brothers' first album "A Briefcase Full Of Blues", John Belushi --- er, I mean, Joliet Jake Blues --- introduces the song as having been previously done by The Chips.
Anyway, I heard The Chips' version twice before many years ago: first, on the soundtrack to Martin Scorsese's 1973 movie, "Mean Streets", and later on Doctor Demento's radio show.

It was. No original material on the album. Covers of songs by Willie Dixon, The Chips, King Floyd, Sam & Dave, Delbert McClinton, Junior Wells, and Otis Redding.
