I rented this the other day. It was the first time I ever saw it. I'm not sure what my thoughts are...I didn't hate it or even dislike it, but I'm not sure if it was good either! It was a cheesy movie but the music was fun and the whole Ramones thing was neat.
The main girl's clothes were so awesome! Very late 70's early 80's! The scene where she's in her room and it's all colorful and she's smoking pot and fantasizing that the Ramones are there singing to her "I Want You Around" was pretty funny. Good song too! I'm on a bit of a Ramones kick now...Anyone else like this movie?

I agree with you. While I liked THE RAMONEs the humor in it was a little too "dumbed down" for me. They didnt seem to know what direction they wanted to go in: They didnt make the movie too "dirty" and kept the jokes grade school but then showed people smoking pot and trying to get "Laid" so i don't know which way they were headed. By the way, I dont know if you know this, the movie was originally supposed to be about THE BEACH BOYS! Avoid the sequel ROCK & ROLL HIGH SCHOOL FOREVER unless you really feel the need to see Corey Feldman singing Tutti Frutti.

I have been wanting to see this movie, cause I am positive the main character was PJ Soles, and I like her...that's why I was shocked at how she looked on the 100 Teen Stars...they showed her in clips from this movie.
My cousin had a chance to meet the Ramones in New York city last year...they were on Howard Stern...and my cousin was there with his best friend, and his best friend's Dad was with them and he is Howard Stern's 1st cousin...but something happened and the whole thing got cancelled, my cousin was crushed.
I personally don't know much about their music...didn't their lead singer O.D.??

Three of the four Ramones have died including Joey their lead singer. One of the three deaths was drug related but Joey's was from natural causes.

I read that Joey died from cancer. He and Howard Stern could be twin brothers.

God bless the Ramones, they should have had many chart hits if the musical gods brandished justice. I had a chance to see them in 94 and I stupidly passed on it, now only one is left. It's really sad as their music kind of made them sound indestructible.
I liked Rocknroll high school, I loved the fandom PJ Soles displayed for them, but I do agree that some of the teachers and plots were so cornballish, I wish they could have made it smarter and darker like Heathers or something. Although blowing up the school I'm sure was a future precedent for these movies.

When did they die? Because I know there was more than 1 guy that was suppose to be there when my cousin was going to meet them..it might have been maybe 2 years ago, I am pretty sure it was the Ramones, now I have to go ask my Aunt who all was there.
Who was the band that the lead singer was Sid Vicious???

Joey was the first to die, then Deedee shortly after, and Johnny died last year. They had another member in the 90's for a while, his name was CJ. He sang on the strength to endure, one of my favorite 90's Ramones songs.
Sid Vicious wasn't the lead singer in the Sex Pistols. he was just the bassist, he could barely play at all, he wasn't allowed in the studio. But because of his astonishing punk looks and behaviour he became the poster boy for the band. Sid did idolise the Ramones bassist Deedee though. He tried to copy his bass stance and attitude. Johhny Rotten was the singer, but once he left, Sid did attempt to sing some songs on the Great Rocknroll swindle soundtrack. He did have a unique version of My Way.

Didn't Sid kill his girlfriend Nancy and then kill himself? What a messed up scene that was!

Paul Bartel is a legend and I can watch him in anything(his partner ex Warhol model Mary Woronov is also in this). The film is very poor, but just how cute is PJ Soles. It's a great shame because the cast is decent, the material they have is weak and it shows all to painfully for the viewer.
I would suggest having a look out for Joe Dante's Hollywood Boulevard, it has a similar cast and is a hilarious lampoon of all those great AIP exploitation flicks.
I also caught Bartel's own Private Parts at the cinema recently, a vintage sleaze epic with copious amounts of black humour(particuliary the police officers at the films finale)

There still is debate wether Sid killed nancy at the Chelsea Hotel where they were stating. he apparently did not remember killing her and it never went to trial because he OD''d while out on bail, and there is speculation he may have been in a suicide pact with Nancy. It's out of print now, but Nancy's mom did write a book based on Nancy called I don't want to live this life anymore. It talks a lot of what might have happened.
As for the Ramones, there have been two good documentary DVD's that have come out of late.

I haven't ever seen this one either but it is on a "wanna see at some point in time" type of list. It has just never had to much priority because I haven't ever seen too much on it to know any details about it. I just found out the other day while watching 80s Teen Stars on VH1 that PJ Soles was in it. Other than that I am not even sure who starred in it!
