Anyone else a Evel Knievel fan? He was my hero when I was little. I remember watching his jumps on Tv. Especially the fiasco on the Wide World Of Sports where he tried to jump the Snake River Canyon. I had all the toys and I would try to jump my bicycle off of ramps over trashcans and stuff. I also liked it when Fonzie made his motorcycle jump outside of Arnolds. I would love to meet Knievel and get his autograph on my poster I have of him. He's really getting up there in age now. Robbie is cool, but he will never be as cool as his dad. Viva Knievel!!!!

He always seemed like a fool to be doing dangerous stuff like that for no other reason than to say he did it. I respect people who enjoy danger for the rush of it all, but most of his stunts seem overly hazardous if that makes any sense. I don't get the fascination, but then again I am a girl. Just an opinion. Oh and "whut up" my fellow Dallas-ite!?

Bigfoot I hope that you get your dream fulfilled some day. I really don't remember much about Evel Knievel, I remember the motorcycle jumps but what other kinds of stunts did he do?

Hey Bigfoot, I was a huge Evel Knievel fan as a kid. I remember the Snake River incident and how it was advertised non-stop and I thought this is the end of him for sure this time. Evel Knievel was an icon for a kid in the 70's, but those horrific crashes were a deterrent for most followers. They have a commerical on now that replays one of his crashes and it is ugly ..."That's gotta hurt" & "I've never seen the human body bend like that" comes to mind for me. His son, Robbie, is an amazing dare devil, but the difference is he has better equipment and has learned for his dad's mistakes.

yea Valley, I remember watching the snake river jump too. I even had the toy rocket cycle! I have a video of some of Robbies jumps. He's pretty cool too. Evel was so popular that he had that rock star type status. He even dressed like Elvis with the white suit and white cape. I always thought the guy was just super cool.
Do you remember the cartoon called Devlin about the motorcycle daredevil?
