A hundred years ago when I was small I remember seeing this movie on TV about a little girl who was brought up in the back-woods somewhere by this awful old woman. A man befriends her (possibly a cop) and he and his wife end up keeping her I think. Key scenes I remember are when the girl goes to school, she has this bird that always sat on her shoulder. The other children start throwing rocks at it to make it fly away from the girl but it won't leave her side. Then the little girl starts throwing the rocks too so the others will like her. They end up killing the bird...I'll never forget my heart breaking when that happened. I cried for years over it. Another scene I remember was near the end the man, wife, and little girl go to the fair anf ride the ferris wheel. Can't remember the end, can't remember who was in it. Please can someone help!!!

I read the book too and I think it may be Audrey Rose or Full circle.the adoptive mother sees it happen or is told of it not sure and it is the start of when they realise there is something not right with her
