what a cool movie and true story of radio dj alan freed. it's set in the 50s with snappy doo-wop songs and rockin/rollin groups trying to get signed....starring a young dark-haired jay leno and fran drescher. i have never seen this movie for sale, and was lucky enough to catch it on cable a few years ago so i taped it.
who else has seen it? was it a made for t.v. film?

It was an actual theatrical movie from the late 70's. I saw it on VHS video during the mid-80's.
It was neat that they used some of the original 50's rockers (such Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis) for the concert show scenes.
It would've been nice to see the downfall of Alan Freed's career, due to the payola scandal, but I guess that would've made the movie too depressing.

I've seen some of it just to see Leno & Drescher so young and I know how it ends...maybe some day I'll watch the whole thing from start to finish.
