Part of Isis' post from the "Ode to Billie Joe" thread:

...But I never noticed it ever until watching it this time, and it is directed by Max Baer - who played Jethro on "The Beverly Hillbillies."
When "The Beverly Hillbillies" show went off the air, Max had difficulty finding any other acting work for several years due to his being typecast from the program, so he turned to directing a few movies. And Ode To Billie Joe was one of them.

Ever since 1999, Max Baer, Jr. has been trying to start up a gambling casino with a "Beverly Hillbillies" theme in Carson City, Nevada. It is originally planned to be built inside an abandoned shopping area (which once was a Wal-Mart) and be called "Jethro's Beverly Hillbillies Mansion & Casino".

But the permits process has been going on for a number of years, and there is no scheduled opening date...that is, if it ever opens!

Personally, I was never a "Beverly Hillbillies" fan. But I doubt the Clampett family would approve of a casino in their name! It seems that Max Baer, Jr. can't seem to find any other source of fame or income, so it looks to me that he's trying to milk it for all that it's worth. When you think about it, it's kinda sad. Actually...I think that is an awesome thing he has planned, I hope he can do it. So many actors/actresses give up on everything, and I am sure it has to be very difficult for alot of them to see their life change so drastically.

I personally think he did a terrific job directing Ode to Billy Joe-it was right up his alley, and it was well made.

With all the total crap that gets made, where do those directors get the shot, because their stuff stinks, I don't understand the whole process out in Hollywood.

I'll add Jethro's Casino to my dream vacation list, right after Graceland and Branson...NOT.

I can picture it now -- blackjack dealers in jeans, plaid shirt & rope belt...cocktail servers passing out Granny's Secret Recipe in gingham dresses...lots of critters underfoot.
