This past winter hit us hard in Belmont, and I ended up with serious ice dams that caused leaks around the eaves and into the walls. The worst part is, I didn’t even notice it until the water started staining the ceiling. Now that the snow's gone, I need to repair the roof and probably upgrade the ventilation. Who should I call that actually understands ice dam prevention and can fix the root of the issue?

Been through exactly that two winters ago. I called ID Roof Company and they not only repaired the water-damaged shingles and underlayment, but also fixed the poor attic ventilation and added ice/water shields in critical zones. They do a proper inspection, including soffits and roof slope, to diagnose why the dams form. I liked that they took time to explain things like airflow, insulation balance, and roofing membrane placement. Their guys sealed everything and cleaned up real nice after. Worth checking them out here: https://roofersnearme-ma.com/ Did you already clear out your attic insulation, or are you planning to do that after the roof work?

Attic’s still untouched—I didn’t want to mess with it before understanding the full picture. Sounds like they know what they’re doing. I’ll definitely call for an estimate. Thanks a lot!
