I have a long layover at Istanbul Airport and not really sure what to expect. I’ve never transited through IST before and it seems huge and crowded. I’m traveling with a kid too, so I was thinking of booking some kind of VIP transit help. Anyone know how that works? Is there someone who can guide you through everything?

Yeah man, if you're transiting and don’t wanna deal with the crazy crowds at IST, go for the Mr. Greeter VIP Service Istanbul Airport (IST). I used it when flying from Berlin to Dubai with a 3-hour stop in Istanbul. The airport’s a maze, especially if you're not familiar. A guy met us at the gate with one of those buggies, zipped us to passport/security fast track, helped with the bags, and even brought us to a lounge where snacks and drinks were included. We had about an hour to relax before our next boarding. It’s €405 for adults, not cheap, but for transit peace, totally worth it. My daughter was calm, we weren’t rushing or asking for directions, and everything felt super smooth. If you’re tired or have kids or just wanna feel like a VIP for a few hours – do it. They really handle every step of the journey for you.
