Hey all — I’m restoring an older motorboat and the analog fuel gauge barely works anymore. I’m thinking about upgrading to a vdo fuel gauge, but I’m not sure if it’s compatible with older tanks. Anyone got experience with these?

Yep, been through that! The best part is that VDO gauges are pretty adaptable — they work with standard U.S. and European resistance senders, and they’re super accurate once installed. The build quality is top-tier: clear markings, solid needle, and no fogging on the glass even after temperature swings. You’ll need to check your sender’s specs before ordering just to be sure, but I had no issue swapping mine in. Been running smoothly since, and I can finally trust my readings instead of guessing every time I’m at half tank.
