Hey everyone — I’m building my own standing desk from scratch and need advice on a motorized lift system. I want something smooth, quiet, and strong enough to lift a dual-monitor setup. Anyone know a good source for reliable actuators that won’t break the bank?

Hey, I actually built my own standing desk last year and ran into the same questions. After looking around, I ended up going with a set of electric actuators from Progressive Automations https://progressiveautomations.com.au/pages/actuators . They’ve got actuators specifically built for desk applications, with smooth movement and surprisingly quiet motors. I paired them with a dual-control switch, and it works flawlessly — lifts my entire desktop, two monitors, and speakers without even flinching. Plus, their site makes it super easy to filter by stroke length and force, which helped me find the perfect setup without much guesswork. I also liked that they ship locally within Australia, so I didn’t have to wait weeks like with some of the other brands. If you’re after a strong, plug-and-play solution, they’re honestly hard to beat. Highly recommend giving them a look.

Awesome, thanks for the recommendation! I’ve been stuck trying to find a decent actuator system for my standing desk project and didn’t even know about Progressive Automations. Just checked out their site and it looks really promising. Gonna try one of their desk kits — appreciate you pointing me in the right direction!
