"In 1997: The guardian of the future is much more than a man"
Lemme guess... this is going to be a very slightly off-base take on what really happened in 1997?

atomik did you ever read anywhere about daniel greene the star of hands of steel or fists of steel as it is known in the uk passing away shortly after the completion of this movie. i have an old video review magazine - video the magazine jan 1987 with this quote - most unfortunate news of the year:daniel greene untimely death after making "fists of steel",and this little article from website zone sf seems to support this theory http://www.zone-sf.com/screenscene/deathrmjm.html but when i look up the actor on imdb http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0338715/ it has him as recently starring in the us comedy hall pass! its return of the living dead starring daniel greene!

Just watched Hands of Steel (or Atomic Cyborg like it was in the opening titles). What can i say, it was fantastic sc-fi action flick!
Daniel Greene was cool as Paco Queruak, 30% man 70% machine. Janet Agren played his love interest, yes this terminator has a heart. George Eastman was also in this one, he was great as the sleazy villain Raul Morales. John Saxon was the evil boss, Francis Turner.
Ex-Goblin Claudio Simonetti has composed a good score for the movie. Especially the theme tune is very beautiful.
One scene is a direct steal from The Terminator. Paco does some self surgery on his forearm just the same style Arnie did.
I loved the action scenes. Cool female cyborg fight, shooting, fighting and arm wrestling.

The actor who died on the set of Hands of Steel was Italian actor Claudio Cassinelli.. He died in a helicopter-crash at age 46.
I tracked down this Scandinavian dvd-release as well.. Have yet to receive it though. I remember it from the video-era.. unfortunately never seen it back then.

Hands Of Steel was great fun and even more so than what I remember, takes a little while to really kick into gear but when it does the last 30/40 minutes or so is just non-stop mayhem!
Daniel Greene made for a likeable lead as cyborg hitman on the run Paco Queruak and he certainly looked the part plus there was some crazy stunt work on show here and like Johnny Roarke mentioned above one cast member the Italian actor Claudio Cassanelli actually lost his life on set in a helicopter crash.
Loved the scene where Paco fights it out with the cyborg biker couple at the diner/hotel and also where he arm wrestles the giant Darwyn Swalve (The Zoo Gang) as pictured on the back of the cover above over a rattlesnake and then makes good use of a karate chop!
Like Atomik mentioned the Claudio Simonetti music score is awesome - https://youtu.be/xeofWxlPiTQ plus the Arizona desert settings were really cool as well!
I watched this on Blu-ray rental and the UK Blu from 88 films transfer wise was rather good with a pretty detailed picture quality and a very decent Lossless mono audio track.
Not much in the way of extras but it did have one lengthy interview plus a trailer reel where it featured this crazy looking adult musical comedy -
Adult Fairy Tales from 1978 - anyone familiar with this one and if so what did you think?
