I just watched this for the first time and I loved it! can't stress enough how much I loved it!
It started off beautiful....
the dance scene with Never say Never-Romeo Void had me totally glued to the screen
I couldn't get a great screenshot but how the camera went in circles as they danced was marvelous!!
Aidan Quinn was great in the movie...it was his film debut.
also stars Daryl Hannah, Adam Baldwin, as Tracey's friends in small parts Jennifer Grey, Haviland Morris and Pamela Springsteen....and a tiny Billy Jacoby!
I don't like giving too much away about the movie.....but it's cinematography is beautiful.....the soundtrack is awesomely fitting......lots of great tunes from INXS that make me want to now look up more of their music.
when I searched Reckless on the Rewind it came up mentioned lots for the pool scene which is definitely steamy....but was also done so realistically to me.
Awesome movie!!
I bought my copy from the Warner Bros Archive Collection definitely worth it!
I wonder how this movie isn't as known?

Well, it wasn't a big hit back in the day. Also, when it came out there were a bunch of 'steamy' type romance movies which seemed to be a staple style at the time. It just got lost in the shuffle.
The 'steeltown' look of the film always makes me think of 'All the Right Moves'.

Never seen it. Didn´t know that this was written by the great Chris Columbus. I like this original poster. I want to see more pool scenes in movies

I watched it several times on HBO in the 80's. Underrated flick that is kind of lost in the 'steamy' shuffle as logan5 mentioned.
I've always associated this movie with "Breathless" as well.. it must be the 'less' part of the title or the 'steam'..

I don't suggest looking at it until after you've seen the movie as there are totally spoilers!
In the trivia section someone wrote this:
" to transform Johnny's viewpoint into visual images the production chose red and black to be prominent colors in the film"
If this is true I actually noticed the red constantly.....the film was so beautiful and red always stood out to me.....I assumed they were doing it because it's such a passionate movie and red is a passionate color? haha maybe?
that exact pool picture from that cover isn't in the film? right? because when Johnny kisses Tracy she doesn't have a shirt on anymore? and they are both in the pool.........I hate when they do that!

Good, underrated film by the underrated James Foley. I take it that the Warner Archive transfer and packaging were nice, Muffy?

I think they did a good job Crash! the DVD is good quality........I don't think it was restored? on my computer when I went to get the screen shots it was grainy but the sound was actually really great and that means a big deal to me.....cause the soundtrack blew me away. I would buy more from them for sure..........being even the VHS was expensive. I really hope more companies do this for their catalogs like you said.....would be awesome to pick up any movie you wanted at least if it was a decent price?

Thanks, Muffy. I am glad that you enjoyed it. I love discovering a film that is a buried treasure. Now if only "Call Me" and "The Caller" would make it to DVD. :-)

Great movie, love the song 'To Look At You' by INXS works so well for the mood/feel of the movie.

Ha.. I was actually looking up Breathless and was shocked that I had never commented on it .. except my Reckless / Breathless statement. Which I did remember, but had to check it out again.
And I do occasionally view the "in the last 300 minutes" section.. but obviously not as much as Muffy Drew!

how did i miss this one of my top 20 80s list? as much as i think breathless is an 80s classic reckless for me is not far behind it or maybe even on par with it! loved the soundtrack-especially the inxs tracks and if all the right moves captures the atmosphere and look of steeltown life as well as reckless does i cant wait to see it! not that i've ever been to a steeltown mind you but this is pretty much how i would imagine it! i always liked the scenes just leading up to the pool scene where quinn and hannah are running round trashing there high school to the sounds of kim wildes kids in america! i've been tempted by some of the warner archive titles (so fine, wisdom, reckless) but been slightly put off by the high pricing especially for import to the uk. anyone purchased from these before http://www.deepdiscount.com/_/Reckless_883316195451 as with postage when converted to uk pounds works out about £12 which is a lot cheaper than i've found else where!
