Thought it would be fun to discuss the Meatballs franchise and everyone pick their favs. I actually watched all four flicks today and it was a blast. My fav is still the original, but I have a soft spot for "Meatballs II" because of Kim Richards and Meathead.
Meatballs (1979)
Meatballs is a hilarious romp set at a low-cost summer camp. Tripper is the camp's head counselor with a quirky cool sense of humor that is incredibly entertaining. Tripper is actually a good guy who eventually befriends an outcast underdog camper named Rudy. Other characters include camp chief Morty, Tripper's love interest Roxanne, the ultra-nerd Spaz, and his hefty pal Fink. The plot finds Camp Northstar pitted against the rich kids at nearby Camp Mohawk in the annual summer games. However, it's Tripper who really ignites this movie.. whether he's doing wacky camp announcements, telling a campfire story about a hook-handed killer, or inspiring his overmatched troops with his chant of "It just doesn't matter".
Bill Murray - Tripper Harrison Chris Makepeace - Rudy "The Rabbit" Gerner Kate Lynch - Roxanne Harvey Atkin - Morty Melnick Russ Banham - Crockett Sarah Torgov - Candace Jack Blum - "Spaz" Keith Knight - Larry "Fink" Finkelstein
Meatballs II (1984)
This in-name-only sequel to the original Meatballs summer camp movie sets us at Camp Sasquatch where the owner Giddy tries to keep his camp open after it's threatened with foreclosure after Hershey, the militant owner of Camp Patton located just across the lake, wants to buy the entire lake area to expand Camp Patton. Giddy suggests settling the issue with the traditional end-of-the-summer boxing match over rights to the lake. Meanwhile, a tough, inner city punk, nicknamed Flash, is at Camp Sasquash for community service as a counsellor-in-training where he sets his sights on the naive and intellectual Cheryl, while Flash's young charges meet and befriend an alien, whom they name Meathead, also staying at the camp for the summer ski/snowboard tour.
Richard Mulligan - Coach Giddy John Mengatti - Armand 'Flash' Carducci Kim Richards - Cheryl Archie Hahn - Jamie / Voice of Meathead John Larroquette - Lt. Felix Foxglove Paul Reubens - Albert / Hara Krishna
Meatballs III: Summer Job (1986)
When porn star Roxy Doujor is denied entrance into the afterlife, she is given one last chance to help some poor soul on Earth. She finds Rudy Gerner, (whose character was the center of the original film as an adolescent) working at a summer river resort. Roxy is given the task of helping Rudy lose his virginity in order to be allowed into the afterlife.
Patrick Dempsey - Rudy Sally Kellerman - Roxy Doujor Shannon Tweed - The Love Goddess Isabelle Mejias - Wendy
Meatballs 4 (1992)
Ricky is the hottest water-ski instructor around and he has just been rehired by his former employer/camp to whip up attendance. However, the camp is in serious financial trouble and the owner of a rival, more popular, camp wants to buy them out. Thus, the two camps will have to engage in a mean, winner-takes-all competition that will settle the row once and for all.
Corey Feldman - Ricky Wade Sarah Douglas - Monica Shavetts Jack Nance - Neil Peterson

I just have fond memories of III, due to being approximately 10 - 11 years old when seeing it for the first time!

I've seen them all, but I only ever thought the first was worth returning to (a classic). Might try the others again sometime.

Important announcement: Some hunters have been seen in the woods near Piney Ridge trail and the fish and game commission has raised the legal kill limit on campers to three. So, if you're hiking today, please wear something bright and keep low.
