The Children of Times Square is a good tv-movie directed by Curtis Hanson.
An alienated teenage boy Eric (Brandon Douglas) runs away from home to New York City Times Square. He ends up dealing cocaine with a gang called The Leopards. All under 16 years, except the main man of course (great Howard E. Rollins Jr.), so if they get arrested, the police can´t put them in jail. All this time Eric´s mother is searching for him.
Also starring Joanna Cassidy, Larry B. Scott (Iron Eagle, Revenge of the Nerds), Danny Nucci, Griffin O'Neal (The Wraith, April Fool´s Day), De'voreaux White, Jason Bernard etc.
You can also spot Joe "Maniac" Spinell, Courtney Gains and Ami Dolenz in small roles.
The film includes cool and atmospheric score written by Michael Shrieve. I love the NY City street scenes, the arcade scenes and the fact that this is not too "polished" tale about the troubled teens.
