Talk about freaking cool leotards, cool dance moves, bad acting....."Mom how do you say o-r-g-i-e-s" haha A freaking awesome Sparks song that gets stuck in your head.... The Sparks-Breaking out of Prison
Warning: this movie is really cheesy and has the longest dance marathon i've ever watched....may contain: bad acting, men in short shorts and female mullets....pure 80's gold. Posts: 2912 | Registered: Jun 2003 | Site Updates: 26

I really, really thought this would be a pic of you in a leopard print leotard with hunks of gorgonzola and emmental stuffed into your leg-warmers as a multi-sensory fashion statement
(and I use the word 'fashion' quite wrongly...)

Heavenly Bodies, as cheesy as it may be, is a classic 80s dance flick. Watching that dance marathon is one of the most breathtaking experience i´ve ever had
And i love love love that soundtrack! I have the lp and it´s one of my all time favorites. Check out the awesome Bonnie Pointer video The Beast in Me
Here´s the Finnish VHS cover art:

As everyone knows.. I love dance movies and "Heavenly Bodies" is no exception.
The soundtrack is addictive and Muffy that Sparks tune is awesome. I have a thread in the music section dedicated to Sparks and I can't believe I didn't include "Breaking Out of Prison". At about 5pm everyday at work.. this tune starts playing in my head.
"hey..hey.. goodbye love handles!"
One thing though.. I always wait for "Heavenly Bodies" to turn into a horror movie because I associate Cynthia Dale with "My Bloody Valentine".

Muffy.. I just watched "Heavenly Bodies".. I actually can't get the Bonnie Pointer tune "The Beast In Me" out of my head now. I remember areobics being all the crazy in the 80's and this movie captured that atmosphere quite well.

LOL. You guys always make me chuckle when you thread about these time capsule pieces. This is cheesy and hilarious--but still watchable--today. Can you imagine some culture looking at it 50 years from now? To me, that's even funnier! I have had a thing for Cynthia Dale and her sister, Jennifer, for years though. It's just something about the way those Canadian gals say the word "about." :-) Cynthia became one of Canada's best-loved TV actresses for her work as a lawyer(!) on "Street Legal," the CBC Canuck version of "LA Law," during the 80's, and she and her sis had a mystery show a few years back--it got cancelled quickly--called "Taking the Falls," (It was set in Niagra Falls, Ontario.) Go Canada!

This is totally Muffy's fault.. I've watched "Heavenly Bodies" at least 3 times since she started this thread. It is slowly becoming my Sunday morning cardio workout.

Ronnie.. have you watched the movie with the soundtrack playing to it first? The tunes are great independently, but add them with the movie scenes and you'll totally be aerobersizing to the beat.

Val, you ain't lying!
Haha well proud to report that a year and a half later, I finally got to see this and holy hot pants, I really..really dug it!
I was singing to Miss Muffy on the phone today, "Breaking out of prison baby....."
I love the music a lot and I just loved how every other scene just goes back to the dance-ersizing and the girls are woo-ing and yeah-ing haha
Very cute movie, with some hot dance moves. Love where Cynthia Dale is sizzling to 'The Beast In Me' and starts to fiercely shake her head side to side and sway her hips....really makes you want to dance ha.
The soundtrack is just awesome. Love The Tubes track the best!
