I apologize to all the hard core 80s fans on this site for the following sentence. I only saw weird science for the first time today. I was not allowed to watch this movie but was allowed to watch bloodsport with a rating of 18 . . . parents huh!! Putting the unethical concept of objectifying women aside i thought Anthony m Hall did a great job of convincing me that i too was once just like Gary and now my regret is simply this . . .I wish i had watched this at 15. Im sure i would have taken it a lot more seriously and maybe even tried it on my commodore 64 using some tin foil and my sisters barbie doll or quite possibly a cut out of phoebe cates. Who of you watched this back in the 80s and can tell me what it was like from a young teenagers point of view because unfortunatly ill never know.

awww sad Willy.........I always say it's funny what we were allowed to watch as kids in the 80's that if kids watched it now you'd been shunned as a bad parent.
as a girl I guess I never wanted to build a perfect man........lol But I loved Gary and Wyatt and Lisa. I loved the house party and just simply from a kids point of view.....who wouldn't want a magic genie who grants your every wish.........Boys just got the advantage of an erection ha!
Chet was my eye candy..........

At 12 years old, all you needed was Kelly LeBrock in the movie. It was a fun movie overall, and, who doesn't like a "nice guys don't always finish last" movie...

Muff! Let's keep this PG13!
I must be the only guy in the world who didn't care for Kelly LeBrock as a lad. I could see she was pretty, but... not my type I guess.
Willy: This was great fun as a kid. As an adult it seems like it lacks a little of the heart some of Hughes other movies had. Still good fun, though.

I also didn't think Kelly was all that hot either.
And now, considering that she would later marry (and divorce) Steven Seagal in real life, I just shake my head when I see a picture of her.

muffy you make me laugh! You are right about parents shunning movies. Some of the ratings movies get today confuse me EG Dark Knight is only a 12 which means legally in the UK 11 yr olds are allowed to watch them providing they have a parent with them.
Logan, Kelly never did it for me when i watched woman in red and my love will always be phoebe.
I noticed the ending with garry and wyatt talking to the girls kinda reminded me of the ending to another hughes classic - ferris b's day off. (ferris talking to sloan and kissing her goodbye), the music in the back ground was similar also.
kev73. Nice guys finishing last sounds great to me. I bought this dvd as a double with The Breakfast club for £2 in the local supermarket (BARGAIN)!
Steve. I saw Kelly on celeb big brother not so long ago. She has aged a lot and has put on a lot of weight.
this movie really did make me laugh in some parts and it was great to see a hughes movie i hadnt seen. Once again sorry and dont let this mishap shape your view of oneyedwilly's love for the 80s...this one slipped through im afraid.
'Now then, what do you little maniacs want to do'?

I love movie quotes, and this movie had some of the best:
Check us out! (as they're getting pantsed in front of the girl's gym class)
For the first time in my life; I don't feel like a total ****. (right before the jerk pours a icee on their heads)
Naw, just give me the whole bottle. I'll tell you what, how bout you bend over and I'll shove it straight up yo ***! On the rocks is fine. (at the party)
How 'bout a nice greasy pork sandwich served in a dirty ashtray?
Yes, I could go on.....

The first time I watched "Weird Science" I laughed about as hard as possible because of the legend now known as 'CHET'!!
As Bamersy stated .. this movie has so many incredible quotes.
logan5 .. totally in agreement about Kelly LeBrock. I realize that she was beautiful in this movie, but just not my type I guess. Maybe it was the fact that when I attempted to recreate her myself that all I ended up with was a house fire and police photos with my mom's bra on my head.

I was already raiding my father's XXX porn movie stash before I ever saw this movie. So once I did finally see it, it seemed quite tame to me...such innocence lost much too soon.
