A Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Larry Roberts (Albert Finney) gets suspicious when models he has operated on begin to die in mysterious ways. With the help of Cindy (Susan Dey), the next in line to be killed, he traces the deaths to a mysterious corporation called The Digital Matrix which develops new technologies.
During his investigation, Roberts discovers some advanced-technology devices the Digital Matrix corporation is using to hypnotize consumers into buying the products they advertise. He also discovers the L.O.O.K.E.R. (Light Ocular-Oriented Kinetic Emotive Responses) gun, a light pulse device that gives the illusion of invisibility by instantly mesmerizing its victims into losing all sense of time.
"Looker" is a 1981 science fiction film written and directed by Michael Crichton. It starred Albert Finney, Susan Dey, James Coburn and Tim Rossovich.
Such an entertaining movie!

Veronica .. the premise was ahead of its time if you think about it. We live in a world where celebrity status and beauty are often attempted to be recaptured through plastic surgery. Though the results are at times frightening to watch!
Albert Finney was great in "Looker". The time loss scenes are brilliant.

I thought this movie was great; it was also when my family first had HBO so I got to watch it many, many times. Thought the eye twinkle hypnotize was cool, and the flash/time loss scenes would be scary if they happened to you! Haven't seen it in the years since, would be interesting to see how it held up.

Have never seen this one. Gives me something to go find. The only Susan Dey movie I saw in the 80's was Echo Park.

Riptide.. you should totally track a copy of "Looker" down. It is a great movie and you will be in disbelief that it somehow got a PG rating.
Albert Finney gives a brilliant performance and it is by far Susan Dey's best movie.
Bamersy.. you should watch it again and let us know if you think. Like any 80's movie that is showing technology of the future .. it will appear dated.. but the movie itself is a gem.

Oneyed.. what is really sad is when you are like me and unfortunately remember Susan Dey from "The Partridge Family" reruns as a kid. And those memories are scarier than this movie. ha
Ronnie... let us know what you think after you watch it. Hope you enjoy it.
