Action Jackson is a funny and entertaining popcorn action movie. Directed by former stuntman Graig R. Baxley and this was his first feature film, he had only directed some "The A-Team" episodes before.
Starring Carl Weathers, Graig T. Nelson and the lovely ladies Vanity and Sharon Stone.
Weathers is pretty good in his first leading role and Nelson is funny as the ruthless comic book villain.
Some nice co-stars also appear including Bill Duke, Robert Davi, Thomas F. "Biff" Wilson and even David Glen Eisley who sang on both classic Giuffria hard rock albums in the mid 80s.
The soundtrack by Herbie Hanc0ck and Michael Kamen is pretty funky but i think that it could have been even better. Check out the theme song:

I just watched this a few weeks ago. I remember liking it as a kid, and I wasn't disappointed this time round'. My only complaint is the copy I have is one of those crappy cardboard covers you know I hate!

I liked it. It's got to be good when you get to see both Vanity and Sharon Stone topless!

Carl Weathers definitely had the charisma and physique to carry an action film, which makes it a shame he didn't have the opportunity to make more movies like "Action Jackson".
Action Jackson isn't quite on the same level as Predator or Rocky, but that's no fault of Weathers. And everyone mentioned Sharon Stone and Vanity .. come to think of it ... was Carl Weathers even in this movie?

Vanity made a GREAT string of flicks The Last Dragon (1985) Never Too Young to Die (1986) 52 Pick-Up (1986) and Action Jackson
The bad guy gets scared at the beginning because he just heard the stories about Action Jackson!

I like the way you think, Spreadking! Those are some amazing movies. The Last Dragon is in a class of its own, and Never Too Young To Die is a masterpiece.
