I just dug this old gem out of my VHS collection for a re-watch. This is 80's slapstick comedy at it's best, (or worst, depending on your taste.) I personally love it and felt it's worthy of it's own thread in here. It stars Sherman Hemsley of the Jeffersons and Luis Avalos as a pair of bumbling cops who take on a routine eviction at an old Southern plantation so that it can be torn down and a freeway can be built in it's place. But there's just one problem. The mansion just happens to be inhabited by spooks...Big suprise there huh??
I highly recommend this movie for any fan of 80's cheese at it's best. It comes complete with bad mellodramatic acting, ludicris special effects...and a plot that can easily be missed if you blink for more than 2 seconds.
**p.s.** - Sorry for the crappy movie sleeve pic...I couldn't find a good one.

Pyro...I actually found this on DVD a handful of months back, for $3 at that...I'll try to watch it before the Halloween season is over, as my interest is once again sparked....

I bought it at Zellers...in one of those bins with a bunch of DVDs no one has ever heard of. I only scooped it because you started this thread, so thanks! Otherwise, I likely would have passed over it too. I just checked ebay and there is only one copy available on DVD...it's the exact same cover art as I have. Actually looks like a pretty cheap copy, almost like a bootleg....poor color and printing, no inserts. But alas, it is an official release.

i never heard of this one, pyro? it sounds like something i would like. your description and the photo above give me the impression that it's like a. abbott and costello type movie or something like the old dark house from 1963? i love those kinds of movies.
sounds good to me.

well..looks like I have to try to hunt down a Zellers store..If there is even one around here. I just did another search on it and also found one available for purchase on inetvideo.com. They want $13.00+s/h though...and I think that's a bit much for this movie..no garantees it's not a bootleg version either...and it sounds the same for what you described on eBay. Probably a little more reasonably priced on there though, so I'll look into that and decide if I wanna take the chance on it. But the VHS copy I already own is still in decent working condition, and I highly doubt the DVD comes with any noteworthy bonus features, if any at all. So I'm pretty doubtful I will actually order the DVD. I will definetly get it if I can find it for a couple bucks like you did somewhere.
Ronnie:
this movie is most definetly reminiscent of old Abbot & Costello...but just slightly cheesier in my opinion. You might also say it's somewhat vintage 3 stooges too. So if you enjoy those kinds of films, then yes..I think you would definetly get a kick out of this one.
