Hollywood is redundant of ideas these days, hence all the remakes... Nightmare On Elm Street, Predator, Ghostbusters, Karate Kid.
80's movies were good because they made us all feel good and that it WAS possible to "get the girl/boy", dreams could sometimes come true etc.

some 80's movies need to be remade...but I'll agree in saying alot are quite redundant.

Perhaps if it was an actually horrible film beyond doubt, I would approve of a remake for the purposes of making it better, as long as there was a kernel of goodness to play off of.

Yea, a lot of 80's movies seem to have a distinctive cheesiness. Cheese is good.
