I was just wondering. I have to say 80s movies have become a huge part of me to the extent that sometimes I dont' even know I'm saying or doing things. With the addition of quoting movies and dressing like Molly Ringwald, I have even subjected my small pupils to it.
I teach toddlers at a Y daycare. It's a great job and I have all the freedom in the world to decorate my classroom. They do however, want a lot of examples of diversity at eye-level with the children. And what do I do? I print out colored photos of Bruce Campbell, Jennifer Grey, Michael Winslow and John Candy and stick them to the wall with contact paper right by the kitchen set! I put up some random came-with-the-frame type pictures of families and drew some of my own, but then I look at the wall and I'm astonished at how many examples I have of not only diversity, but of the 80s. And then I turn on the Rock Lobster and my little minds for molding start dancing.

So what about you? Is Patrick Swayze your screen saver? Do you order your coffee quoting "Yes.I always have my coffee when I watch radar, you know that!"? And my answer to those questions, is yes, me too. [Big Grin]

For me it's all about the classic quotes. I swear, half the time I don't even think about it when they come out. If someone asks me a question or mentions something similar to a movie line, I automatically return a quote from that movie.

I never thought about it before, but for me it is all about the "comfort food" aspect of 80's movies (and TV shows too).

If I have had a particularly hard week and just need to put on some sweats and a t-shirt, relax on the couch and throw in a John Hughes, a Spielberg movie, a Police Academy, Romancing The Stone, Splash or The Right Stuff, there is just a ton of movies from any genre that is going to pick me up and put me right back in place.

Quite simply, they just make me smile. And that's enough. [Smile]

Pretty much the same as 80's and Earl. For the longest time, my sarcastic response to almost everyone's statements was ..."Get The F**K Outta Here"...Axel Foley from Beverly Hills Cop. And like Earl, I like the feeling that 80's music and movies creates for me...almost always puts me in a good mood. Also, in my computer room, I have ten of my favorite 80's album covers in frames and hanging on my walls...the visuals give me that oooey goooey feeling too....I love seeing Michael, Cyndi, Huey, Prince everyday!

I agree with kevdugp73 the 80s always brings out a feeling of nostalgia and warm feelings for myself, i guess its because it was the decade in which most of us on here grew up in and have so many wonderful memories, those were the best times for movies, music was good, some great arcade games were coming out too. I guess the only downfall was some of the fashion blunders, but the good times outway the bad times by far. [Wink]
