beside evil dead n halloween n wes craven's nightmare.....there are also unforgettable john landis's werewolve in london its a masterpieces n dan o'bannon return of the living dead also cronenberg's the fly(although its a remake)n h.p. lovecraft from beyond n theres a lot more..............

also, Creepshow/Creepshow 2 and all of the other Stephen King adaptations that were successful (at least in my book) the Dead Zone Children of the Corn (only the first one!) Christine Maximum Overdrive (I like it, anyway) The Shining Also, there were some great sequels to some 70's classics: Day of the Dead Phantasm Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2
but yes, i highly agree on Return of the Living Dead, afterall that soundtrack got me into punk rock back in the mid 80's
