Just finished watching this film for the first time in years and have to say what a great movie this is,in fact i think it just gets better with age.
Watching it this time round really made me notice what great acting Rob Reiner got from a very young cast, and the locations still look great after all these years.
I don't know what it is about this film i like so much but everyone i know who has seen it thinks it's a good film, maybe it is because as an adult we all like to remember the friends we had as kids and the adventures we had.
Also i like the way the story unfolds and i think the way they deal with finding the body at the end and the way the characters drift apart with age.
The naration by Richard Dreyfuss also keeps the story moving nicely.
So who else on here is a fan and what are your thoughts on this movie.

I agree....brilliant movie and one of the best of the 80's. I too just watched this again about 3 days ago. It's one of those flicks that you can watch over and over.

This is definately one of my 'DESERTED ISLAND' movies. I could watch it every day!

the last time I watched it I watched it and then watched it again with the commentary on.

My 10 year old daughter loves it too (and has a crush on River Phoenix)

Lovely film. Such a shame about River. That ending takes on a powerful resonance with hindsight.

Why is it that Stephen King short stories make such good movies?

Thats true . SPOILERS - at the end where they say his charactor died I always start to cry. My nieces and daughter always found that odd since we dont actually SEE him die. When I told him I cry cuz the actor died young in real life they were totally shocked. END OF SPOILERS

One of my favs as well...I get offended when I see this movie in the $5 bin at Walmart...worth way more...but I suppose...more people get to see it this way. The narration really makes the movie. Wasn't the concept of the Wonder Years taken from this movie?
