Back in the 80's, when I was just a kid, I remember I went with my parents to the movies, and watch a sci-fi movie. The movie was a little bit of a horror movie, so I was so scared I had to leave the theater in the middle of the movie. Now I would love to get hold of a copy and try to watch it again until the end, but I cannot remember the title! Here is what I remember:
An alien with a human shape arrives to planet Earth, and somehow settles down in a barn in the middle of nowhere, a sort of forest. He has the nasty habit to attract his victims to the barn and then with a sort of fluorescent light he stabs them and cuts them into pieces and then throws away the body parts into a sort magic portal that opens in the wall, like a sort of twirl or space black hole.
I know this is not much of a plot, but if it rings a bell to anyone, I would be eternally grateful... This movie has been in my head for the past 20 years or so!

Thanks so much for trying. Certainly Alien Prey (1978) is a movie with a very similar plot, but it is not the one. It happend in the countryside, and there was an alien with a human shape. As I said, I missed the whole second half of the movie, and a few minutes from the beginning, so there are many parts I cannot detail. But I am sure, there were a few scenes inside a barn, where the alien killed his victims by luring them into the barn, and them he would stab them with a sort of neon or fluorescent light tube in the stomach. Then would cut the body parts into pieces, and throw them away into a weird whirl that appeared on one of the walls of the burns. The green light whirl would suck the body parts up.
I am pretty sure it was an 80's movie, for it was showing in the cinema by the beginning of that decade.
If anyone has any other clue, I would be incredibly thankful to receive any hints.

PS: I am Spanish, so I watched dubbed into Spanish, but I am almost sure it was an American movie. And the title said something about "The Visitor" or "The Extraterrestrial", but then again, it's blurry and the title might have been changed into something completely different from the original one.

Thanks for the post WolfmansGotNards, but unfortunately, as you half-guessed this wasn't the movie I was looking for. I might have gotten the title wrong. Besides, the movie was way creepier, and sort of sci-fi horror flick. It looked pretty low budget, but then again, I was too young and I might be wrong. The only thing I am 100% sure is that there was that alien with the shape of a man, killing victims in the barn with that neon light bar, sort of plunging the hot bar in their bellies, and slowly killing them, and then throwing their body parts into that green light sort of whirl that appeared on one of the barn walls.
Any hope this rings a bell to anyone?

@ Earl Keese: You cannot imagine how happy your words of optimism made me. That means there is still some hope for the right answer. This movie has been haunting me for almost 20 years, and the worst part is that I never saw the ending! Can you imagine?

I'm almost 100% certain that you are refering to an early 1980's movie entitled "The Return". I remember this movie, and your reference to the glow stick tipped me off right away:

Oops, I kept saying that the killings happened in a barn. I am sorry, it looks as if it was a cave. A memory trick, I guess...
