can anyone help with the title of a movie where a load of animals escape from a zoo, it must have been early 80s of late 70s, i dunno who was in it though, thanks for any help

The only thing that comes to mind is a Sesame Street sketch from the early 80s where an alligator, snake, and kangaroo cooperate to break out of their cage for ice cream, but of course that's not it.

no it was a movie shown on british tv a lot, never see it anywhere nowadays though, im starting to think its just something in my imagination

There's an Italian horror / exploitation film from 1984 called Wild Beasts where PCP contaminates a zoo's water supply and the animals escape & go nuts.

What did the animals do? Did they attack people? Was it a horror flick, comedy?

The only thing that springs to mind is the scene in '12 Monkeys' where all the animals are let out, but that's 90's.
