well last night i was watching a special on the TV guide channel about the brat pack and where they were now. They included alot of people who i personally wouldn't associate with the brat pack like Ralph M(cant spell rest) from the karate kid and tom cruise? For me i think it would have to be C. Thomas Howell (if he even is a brat pack-er) and of course Molly Ringwald who was kinda like a queen bee. Anyways, i was just wondering what everyone's favorite brat pack member was..

I don't consider Ralph Macchio or Tom Cruise to be amongst them either. So I'm gonna go with Emilio Estevez and Ally Sheedy

c same with me and so many random people were included but i guess they added them because they were in a movie with some one from the brat pack like robert downy jr. etc

'Officially', the Brat Pack are all from the movie St Elmo's Fire - the name was first coined in a review of that movie in New York magazine in 1985. This was extended soon afterwards to includethe core cast of The Breakfast Club.
So, from St Elmos Fire:
Emilio Estevez Rob Lowe Andrew Mccarthy Demi Moore Judd Nelson Ally Sheedy Mare Winningham
And from The Breakfast Club:
Anthony Michael Hall Molly Ringwald
Others get grouped in because they worked with John Hughes, or co-starred with some of the above actors, including Tom Cruise, C. Thomas Howell, Ralph Maccio, matthew Broderick, Sean Penn, Charlie Sheen, James Spader, Robert Downey jr., Jon Cryer, John Cusack, Kevin Bacon, Jamie Gertz, Mary Stuart Masterson and Keifer Sutherland. However, none of these are actual members of the group.

I read that too, but they said that they left Mare Winningham out of it... Probably because she moved on...

No - the only reason Mare winningham is sometimes left off the list is because after St Elmo's Fire, she never worked on a movie with any of the others again. The rest of them tended to all work together on loads of other projects.

Yes, I have. It is called Malicious. I had no worries determining that it was a Fatal Attraction plagiarisation when I saw it, either.

While I think the term itself is somewhat vague, and people tend to over-include or under-include actors regardless of their connection to the term simply because of their age; it's worth saying that the article itself was written while the journalist followed Emilio Estevez around during the filming of 'St. Elmo's', but it was actually about the larger young Hollywood community as a whole. The author explicitly cites 'Taps', 'The Outsiders' and 'The Breakfast Club' as Brat-Pack movies. He namechecks Timothy Hutton, Matt Dillon, Tom Cruise and a lot of others as examples of Brat-Packers. His criteria seemed to be; are they young and very successful? [Cruise] or, are they second-generation Hollywood? [Estevez/Penn/Hutton/Cage].
There are a lot of people mentioned in the article (mostly male) and a lot of movies. Who is and isn't a Brat Packer could be debated a lot; if people want to limit it to the cast of 'St.Elmo's' and 'The Breakfast Club', that's fine. Personally, I've always believed if someone was in one of the 'big three' ensemble movies of the 80's: 'The Outsiders', 'The Breakfast Club', 'St.Elmo's Fire', then they could be considered a Brat Packer. It can easily be stretched to include 'Taps' (which I always felt got overlooked as the first teen ensemble movie of the 80's), and it could also easily include the cast of 'Red Dawn'. The actors in all these movies and their individual projects throughout that period seem to thread together quite nicely.
