I am going to watch it soon, in honor of Valentine's Day, because I think it is a great "romantic" movie. I never had been a Virginia Madsen fan, but I really like her in this, and I think Craig Sheiffer is awesome.
I love this whole movie, the entire cast is awesome, the soundtrack is great.

Of course this movie is a gem for me. Cast rocks likes you said and I agree with the soundtrack, especially Wild Blue's Fire with Fire. I can't say enough about that freakin' song! Oh yeah, someone wrote a pretty good review for this movie too(here's your chance Noms, don't waste it).

I missed this movie during the 80's, so I was never a Virginia Madsen fan. But this movie totally changed that opinion for me. She was brilliant and when I add this movie to her performance in the underrated "Modern Girls", I have become an admirer.
Okay back to "Fire With Fire", I passed the VHS cover numerous times at the video store years ago, because the cover art just didn't draw me in for a rental. Isn't it crazy how important the pic on the box was back then at getting you to rent a movie. Anyway, the first I heard of this movie was JLP's (better known to all of us as Jessie) movie of the week she used to do several years ago. Then Isis jumped in and stated it was one of her fav movies, so I gave it a look.
What is so great about the movie is the intensity of the love story, but my fav scenes are actually from the school dance with the incedible songs. Anyone ready to go cliff diving?

Now that I think more about it, I recall Ronnie stating that she really liked this movie as well. Then maybe Isis watched it for the first time after that infamous JLP thread and it quickly became a fav for her.

I was lucky enough to first see this in 1986 when it first came out at 13 years old. That's probably why it's near the top of my 80's movies list.
aTomiK, all the darn movies you have and you don't have a copy of this? I'm disappointed.

I keep thinking what Valley said and maybe the cover art just scared me away too...

Yeah I can't believe Atomik that you never saw this-I think it should be one of your favorites.
It was Ronnie that said how much she liked it. I got it on VHS tape.
Then my friend burned it on to a DVD for me.
My friend meet Kari Whurer- she is one of the school girls in this movie, I told him to ask her about the ending scene, at the cliff- I wanted to know if that was real....and she said it was.
The guy that plays the sheriff, he gives me the creeps. "Don't make me look bad in front of the parole board".

Just watched Fire with Fire and i liked it very much. I´ve always loved Virginia, she was 24-25 when this was made and she still looked like a school girl. So she was very believable. And the songs on the soundtrack are awesome!
It was one of my dreams that someday i will see this movie and now it came true. But i still have many dreams

So cool-I am glad you liked it...I think this is a movie that grows on you more and more. I love everything about it. Especially the soundtrack.
The kid that is Joe Fisk's friend- (the mapmaker)- he was in the movie Secret Admirer too.
The girl that played Lisa's best friend- she died years ago from Diabetes. And the director of the movie died in the LA fires ...he was trying to save one of his pets.
So, that's sad to know.

Awesome my man that you liked it. ISIS is right, the more you watch it, the more you will love it. I watch this about 3 times a year and it will never get old for me. The soundtrack.....greatness. Still looking for the full version of "I'm In It For Love" by James House. Very rare(any help would be much appreciated) . Wild Blue's title song is still the best soundtrack song for any movie, any decade, in my opinion....have I ever mentioned that before?
How about the chemistry between Madsen and Sheffer? Tough to beat that too. 10/10 for me on this one folks, but you already knew that. Posts: 3614 | From: Caught Somewhere in Time.... | Registered: May 2008 | Site Updates: 101

Valley-how friggen awesome are you? I just checked in, saw this thread and thought-how on earth did I miss this!!
Saw this in the theater, probably caught it on HBO once or twice a year or so later-then just popped up on my radar 2 months ago-watched installments on youtube which brought it all back! Remembered every scene
Started fan pages on myspace (got the link added here on the FWF movie page) and facebook-though you have to have an account/signed in to find it. Attempting to keep it a 'true fan' thing vs people collecting friends/self promoting Still very much a work in progress....
