Lots of them about in the 80s, don't limit yourselves to sports movies. I'd say 'You're The Best Around' from 'The Karate Kid' is one of the best around
Rocky III's 'Eye of the Tiger' and Rocky IV's 'Burning Heart' are right up there, as is 'Push It To The Limit' in 'Scarface' where Tony Montana is building his empire and even buys a pet tiger, 'The Monster Squad' 'Rock Until You Drop' was a good montage too.

- Rick (with Karate Kid headband) working out on Anything, Anything by Dramarama. (couldn't find the actual scene on video)
- Rocky running up the stairs on the tunes of 'Gonna Fly Now'.
I'm sure there are plenty of others that I can't think of right now.

Good choices so far, and guys, check out the Omar Sharif Bridge vid, its classic 80s interactive entertainment. Love it when the narrator says "through the miracle of VHS..." Omar Sharif: Legend.

Muffy, I tried for the longest time to find that! That is what I originally wanted up here. When I couldn't find it, I went to the concert songs. I had to post something from those movies.

That's a great song. I like "Number One" by Chaz Jankel from the film too.
And my vote for greatest montage is Rocky IV. It's everything you'd ever want from a sports montage - a soaring rock song, over-the-top workout footage, a ham-fisted good guy vs, bad guy contrast, and a pumped-up personal breakthrough as he ascends the mountain to cap it all off (with not an ounce of subtlety to be found anywhere). Just astonishingly good cheese. A triumph of cheese.
