MY husband and I have been trying to figure out the name of this movie for a while now. We think it's an 80s flick. Anyway, all the houses on the street look the same, there are girls jumping rope (all at the same time) and all the boys are bouncing balls (at the same time). One boy bounces his ball out of time, and a van shows up and grabs him and drives off. Any ideas?

Do you know when that movie is from? All I can find is 2003, and I'm positive that is not it.

Yes, the version that I remember did come out quite late, and I don't think that there was any other adaptation of this book.
The scene you describe, I am certain is from "A Wrinkle in Time", when the Murry children land on the planet Camazotz, and they find that all the children are jumping rope and bouncing balls in the exact same rhythm. Here's a link to a summary of that particular scene:
Perhaps a 80's serial television show like "Tales From the Darkside" or "Amazing Stories" adapted it as a single episode, which would account for the difficulty in locating it.
