I've noticed in other threads a lot of fans for this little Joe Dante picture and decided, what the heck, it deserves it's own spot!! I have been a Burbs fan since the early 90's when I first watched it late one night on T.V. I loved it right away and I'm glad to say I've grown up with it and it never got old. Some movies you watch as a kid and think they're great, then you grow up and it's like 'what was I thinking'!! But this, like The Goonies, and Big Trouble In Little China in particular has still a place among my favourites of all time. So all you 80's lovin, hip cool crazy cats, who dig Ray Peterson, his tubby neighbour Art, crazed military nut Rumsfield, cool dude Ricky Butler and of course, The Klopeks, let's hear about it right here, at Burbs Central!!!!

Jack, dunno if you came right here to the board or whether you'd visited the main site - there's a big Burbs page there (now I think of it, written by me!):
and whilst you're there, the BTILC page is cool as well.....

As can I my friend. It's so cool finding people who love this movie. I actually find it hard to find anyone who's even seen it let alone seen it multiple times here where I'm from!! So cool to chat about it with fans!! So, who's the best neighbour for you then??

I LOVE this movie! Art was the funniest of the gang... in a paranoid kinda way.
Ray: "I should have gone to the lake, I should have listened to Carol." Art: "Listen to your wife??? Who listens to their wife? Listen, you gotta listen to me."
I really need to see it again real soon.

You know I saw 'The Burbs' in the theater but may have been too young to appreciate the humor. Even after 'Bachelor Party' I'm afraid 'Joe Vs. the Volcano' may have turned me off to Tom Hanks comedies. If I'm not mistaken it starred Rick Dukaman (cameo in 'Die Hard') and Henry Gibson of Laugh-In fame, though he also played Martin Short's boss in 'Innerspace', right?
Anyway, think I'll give the movie another couple of watches since you all recommend it.

I don't know what happened, I watched it recently and wasn't as good as I remembered it. Is it just me or something? I got more laughs out of Bachelor Party and Volunteers. Maybe I have to watch it again.
