Kenny Ortega, Director of High School Musical, has told BBC's Newsbeat he's been "invited to re-imagine Footloose for Paramount next year".
Can you think of amything worse than the saccharine-sweetness of HSM acting out the Footloose story, which at many levels was anything BUT sweet?
And he's trying to cast that Zac bloke as the lead?
i sense a commercially successful train-wreck coming down the line....

For a seond there I thought you were voicing my thoughts at hotmail being down for the past three days, but this is far worse.
I know nothing of HSM other than that Zac Efron's girlfirend Vanessa Budgens was involved in a scandal of ner Profumo proportions and that 'Disney' didn't approve. This remake will probably be bad.

Maybe they can update the times and make it punkier or something. Slamdancing/moshing is banned instead of just dancing which is still such a dumb concept for me in the first Footloose.

They could make it punkier, but they won't. Having seen HSM and it's various stars, who are so squeaky-clean they probably use cheese-scented soap, you just know that they won't.

Oh my word. I really hope they don't remake Footloose. That movie is so great. And Kevin Bacon was adorable. And Zac Efron is gay. And their gonna ruin it. They'll ruin everything. =[

Today's HSM is the same for as S Club 7 was, just different names and faces.

Paul, welcome to my nightmare, the water is warm. You are feeling exactly how I felt when MGM announced that they were remaking "Valley Girl", but as a musical. All I could envision was "High School Musical" and how that approach would tarnish Valley Girl's 80's legacy. Let's all face it, remakes have always been apart of the Hollywood strategy, but it doesn't mean we have to like it.

well to paraphrase FIELD OF DREAMS: "If They Make It We Wont Come"
That is my new attitude about remakes. They will only keep making them if people keep coming to see them.

I am so tired of all these "re-imaginings" (read: no imagination whatsoever). You're professional writers...write something new!!!
