Why do I have the feeling there's really going to be nothing good said about the 80s on this series of specials that VH1 has coming up?
I have feelings in my gut and my brain that it's just going to be more of the same "I can't believe I wore/watched/listened to/ate/did that...my God, what were we thinking?...thank God the 90s came along".
Do you think I may be right...and when will the media start taking potshots at popular culture of the 90s? Will the 80s ever get any respect, or will they be the perpetual bastard stepchild of the 20th Century?
Sincerely,
John Kilduff...the Rock Steady Flamethrower

It is a natural progression that the younger generation will always take unwarranted potshots at the previous generation or decade.
I remember reading music magazine articles during the early 80's that the 70's were awful and they were SO glad that it was behind them. In retrospect, they may have been right, but the pop culture of youth always maintains that you shouldn't be as old and crotchety as your parents!
As for taking potshots of the 90's, just wait a few years.
Everything old becomes new again.

The 80's are coming back with a vengence. People are loving the care free attitudes that pervaded the 80's. I love to go out to 80's night dance clubs myself. Remeber when everyone listened to the same music and danced the same? You know the one, the CHESSY 80's bop. =)
