I remember that the cast was youthful (high school/college) and it involved 2 guys that were friends. One was an athelete and very popular the other was a skinny guy who moved slow due to some kind of illness he had. I remember one scene where the sick friend had a football in his hands and acted like a running back when the 2 were hanging out. This was a horror/ thriller so one of the 2 guys was a murderer. And I am pretty sure (not positive) that the ill guy went skinny dipping in the ocean with his buddy's girlfriend and they had sex and she later confessed this to her boyfriend.

lovely_julie, your description intrigues me and while it sounds familiar, the movie you seek just doesn't 'jump' out me, however some of your thoughts remind me of the cult classic:
For anyone that hasn't seen it, you might want to add it to your Halloween scary movie list. One of the stars is Kimberly Beck who later went on to "Friday the 13th" fame.
